Rajput Heritage of Rajasthan

It won’t be wrong to name Rajasthan as the “Land of Kings”. Many prominent rulers have ruled the region leaving behind rich heritage, traditions and cultural treasure. For the tourists and specially the history lovers, touring in Rajasthan is a delightful experience with its innumerable forts, monuments and palaces.  It will be interesting to know that Rajasthan was previously named as Rajputana since it was majorly ruled by the Rajputs which means “son of Rulers”. To discover more of the Rajasthan Heritage, this particular tour is designed for 17days. Here is a complete Itinerary of the tour

Day 01: Welcome to Delhi

The splendid tour to explore the cultural inheritance of Rajasthan begins from Delhi. On arrival at the airport, our representative will get in touch with you and help you locate the hotel and with the check in formalities. After freshen up enjoy a lip smacking dinner at the capital city and stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 02: Delhi Sightseeing Tour (New and Old Delhi)

The second day tour begins with an elaborate tour through the various attractive spots of the Capital city of the country. Post breakfast, take a ride to the heritage places of Delhi like Purana Quila, Qutub Minar, Humayan Tomb and relive the history of India by visiting Raj Ghat, Indian Parliament house, Rashtrapati Bhawan and India Gate. The heritage tour would be incomplete without visiting Jama Masjid, Laxmi Narayan Temple and Delhi Kalibari. For shopping one can visit Dilli Haat, Chadni Chowk and Karol Bagh markets for some quality products. After sightseeing and shopping, return to the hotel in the evening for a delicious dinner at the hotel and stay overnight.

Day 03: Delhi – Samode

The third day of the tour is scheduled for travelling to Samode, a cultural town in Rajasthan famous for its rich inheritance. After breakfast, hit the road for a long drive of 264kms to Samode, which can take a travel time of 6 hours. Spectacularly set amidst rugged hills this is a small village which depicts much of the culture and art through heritage buildings in the area like Samsode Palace, Samsode Fort etc. Once the destination is reached take a walking trail and explore the lovely lifestyle of the village. There is a small market below Samsode Fort which can be visited for trying some handicraft items like block printed clothing and glass bangles. After sightseeing return back to hotel for dinner and night stay.

Day 04-Samsode-Jaipur-Nawalgarh

The fourth day is scheduled for a sightseeing tour in Jaipur. After breakfast head out for the beautiful Amber Fort based on the rugged hilly region of Jaipur. Enjoy the fort and the history attached to it in an elephant safari popular here. It’s wonderful to visualize the courts, massive gates, pillared pavilions, and the glorious architecture of the Fort. After Amber Fort visit City Palace which still houses the Royal Family, Jantar Mantar, Hawa Mahal the Palace of Winds specially built for the ladies of the yester years to enjoy visuals of the market place nearby, Nahargarh Fort, Jal Mahal and others. For all the Indian handicraft lovers collect some blue pottery which is hugely famous in this area. Once the sightseeing in Jaipur is complete set for Nawalgarh which is based at a distance of 141km from Jaipur. Nawalgarh is a city of Painted walls in Shekhwati. Having its foundation in 1737, today it is a heritage place of brilliant Havelis, Qilas and monuments. After arrival in Nawalgarh check in a heritage hotel to enjoy a luxurious overnight stay.

Day 05: Nawalgarh- Mandawa

The fifth day begins by relishing a wholesome breakfast at the hotel. Post breakfast it’s a drive to Mandawa which is around 25kms from Nawagarh and takes about an hour or more to reach the same. After checking in a hotel, freshen up for a village tour of Mandwa. Some of the excellent Havelis are present here includes Hanuman Prasad Goenka Haveli, Murmuria Haveli, Goenka Double Haveli, Gulab Rai Ladia Haveli, Lakshminarayan Ladia Haveli and the giant Chokhani Double Haveli. One should also not miss Mandwa Fort which was built in the 18th century beautified by a painted arched gateway. After sightseeing return hotel for night stay.

Day 06: Mandwa- Bikaner

The next day of the tour begins with a healthy breakfast followed by a drive to Bikaner which is located at a distance of 188kms taking a travel time of 5 hours. On arrival check in the hotel and freshen up for a sightseeing tour in Bikaner. Established in 1488 AD By Rao Bikaji, a Rajput king, this city has numerous heritage spots that provide an immense architectural boost to Indian Rajput culture. Some of the prominent spots to visit here are Junagarh Fort, Lalgarh Palace,Jain Temple, Ganga Singh Museum etc. After sightseeing return hotel for night stay.

Day 07: Bikaner- Jaisalmer

The seventh day of the tour posses more of travel and less sightseeing ventures. Post breakfast, set out for a drive to Jaisalmer which is based at a distance of 333kms and takes about 6 hours time to reach the destination. On the way to Jaisalmer one can enjoy the Camel Breeding Farm on Jodhpur Bypass about 8km from Bikaner. Enjoy camel ride here or taste the exclusive camel milk ice cream to get energized for a long drive to Jaisalmir. On arrival check in a hotel and relax for the rest of the day or take a stroll on the nearby roads of Jaisalmer.  Have dinner and retire for the night at the hotel.

Day 08: Jaisalmer

The next day is fully dedicated for Jaisalmer sightseeing. After having a delicious breakfast at the hotel  leave for the city tour. The major attraction of this location includes Jaisalmer Fort, constructed by Rajput ruler Raja Jaiswal in 1156AD. It is one of the largest forts of the world. Apart from Patwon ki Haveli, the 16th century Bada Bagh, Gadisar Lake Salim Singh Haveli, Raj Mahal Palace, Tricuta hill are also prominent tourist spots to visit. For the shoppers it is an ideal place to visit the local markets to collect the Rajasthani jewellery and Rajasthani puppets and know more about the exclusive Puppet dance. Leather goods are also quite good here. After a good and satisfying tour return back to hotel for dinner and night stay.

Day 09: Jaisalmer Desert Safari

The next day tour includes the much famed Desert Safari on a camel. After having a healthy breakfast, leave early for a full day tour, to enjoy sand dunes and vast stretches of desert land. One can enjoy folk dances and dinner at the camps which are equipped with all facilities still retaining the charms and pleasures of desert life. Return to the hotel for overnight stay.

Day 10: Jaisalmer to Jodhpur

Today the schedule includes travelling to Jodhpur based at a distance of 326kms. It is a long drive and can take more than 8hours to reach the place. After arrival at Jodhpur check in the hotel for the night stay.

Day 11: Jodhpur-Ghanerao

The next day morning is dedicated for Jodhpur visit. Post breakfast drop in at the popular tourist spots like Mehrangarh Fort famous for its architecture, Umaid Bhawan Palace, Jaswant Thada, Kalyana Lake, Mandore Gardens, Ghanta Ghar etc and then have lunch at a local eatery. Then it’s a straight drive to Ghanerao at a distance of 208kms taking a travel time of 5 hrs. On arrival check in a hotel for night stay.

Day 12: Ghanerao- Kumbalgarh- Ranakpur

The tour for the day commences after having breakfast. The first stop would be the Kumbalgarh Fort, a 15th century built, which is famous for its integrated architecture. Then drive for about 34 kms to reach Ranakpur where one can enjoy the multiple Jain temples constructed during 15th century.  After sightseeing check in a hotel for dinner and night stay

Day 13: Ranakpur – Udaipur

In the morning have breakfast and leave for Udaipur. It’s a 90km drive which takes around 2.5 hours to reach. On arrival check in a hotel refresh and relax and leave for a city tour in Udaipur. Being the Venice of the East, Udaipur is a romantic destination with luscious green hills and blue waters of Pichola Lake. A visit to City Palace, the home for Mewars, Jagdish temple is a must. In the evening return hotel for the night stay.

Day 14: Udaipur –Deogarh

It’s a drive of 135kms to Deogarh. On arrival check in a hotel and freshen up. Leave for a city tour and enjoy the sights of Dashavatar Temple and Deogarh Mahal. Return hotel for night stay.

Day 15: Deogarh – Kanota

After breakfast drive to Kanota at a distance of 145kms. It’s a 3.5hours drive. On arrival check in to the Hotel and relax for the day. Stay at the hotel for the night

Day 16: Kanota –Agra

After breakfast in the morning leave for Agra at a distance of 145kms. On the way visit Fatehpur Sikri and on arrival enjoy places like Taj Mahal and Agra Fort, the world heritage sites and a true example of Indian culture and heritage.

Day 17: Agra to Delhi

The morning of the last day of the tour is allotted for Agra city tour visiting Sikandara Fort and local markets. In the afternoon drive back to Delhi for 205kms and take a flight back home.
