Varanasi City Information Guide

UNESCO has called Varanasi as the city of music. But this is not the only reason why it is one of the places on the planet that you must visit in your lifetime. Often claimed to be the oldest city of earth by the Hindus, Varanasi is incredibly colourful and yet sullen as it is believed that the souls depart from here to the heavenly abode.

The city comes to life pretty early in the morning with the devotees and Hindu religious gurus gathering at the Ghats of the Holiest River Ganges. If you are in the city as a tourist, it is best that you roll out of your bed a little early to capture the beauty it has to offer in the morning. You can take some breathtakingly stunning pictures along the banks of the River.

The nights are equally enchanting, especially when you are at the Dashashwamedh Ghat. It is the most important Ghat of the city and the sight of Ganga Aarti in past sunset is simply unbelievable. The thousands of diyas floating away leisurely illuminate the river.

Then there are the temples this city is extremely famous for. Hundreds of temples punctuate the landscape of this city. People from all over the world flock into Varanasi for reasons of death and sometimes life.
