Palitana is located in the South of Indian State of Gujarat in Bhavnagar District. This place is famous for ancient Jain and other temples and is regularly frequented by Jains for Pilgrimage. Earliest, Jain thinkers are said to have attained wisdom by meditating on the Shatrunjaya Hills. The area is famous for the temples constructed on these hills later on popularly called the Palitana Temples.

There are about 3000 temples located on the Shatrujaya Hills. Nine Hundred temples compromise the Paltiana Temples complex. There are about 3800 stone steps to climb in order to reach the top of the Hills. A pious Jain has to do all these steps and reach the temple at least once in lifetime.

Paltiana recently banned all kind of non vegetarian food and businesses related to it and became a totally Vegetarian city.

The nearest Airport is at Bhavnagar roughly 50 Km away. There is a small railway station in Paltiana which trains connected to Sihor. From Sihor the trains are available to bigger cities like Ahmedabad which are connected to the rest of the country.

Due to Jains belief that they must visit this place once in lifetime this place is going to grow in terms of religious tourism.
