Ethnic Textile Tour of India

Ethnic Textile tour is designed specifically to elevate the cultural facet of India. The country is famous for its supreme and rich cultural gully which remains evident in the traditions, religion, customs, and beliefs, language, and even in their costumes. This particular tour aims at visiting the greatest textile hubs of the country and visualizing the textile weavers and artisans work on design, printing, style and fashion.

The tour itinerary includes

Day 01: Arrive at Kolkata

The beautiful ethnic textile tour begins from Kolkata. So after arrival at the Kolkata airport, meet our representative who will guide you to the hotel and help you get settled there. Take the evening off for leisure or visit the nearby market. Return back to hotel for dinner and night stay.

Day 02: Kolkata

Start the day by having breakfast and leaving for Kolkata city tour. Start by exploring Victoria Memorial, a perfect example of finesse European architecture, St Paul’s Cathedral, Kali Temple, Botanical Garden, Paresnath Temple and Indian Museum. In the afternoon enjoy authentic Bengali cuisine at Bhajo Hari Bangla or other local Bengali restaurants. In the evening enjoy Nicco Park and Science City tour before concluding the day. Return back to hotel after sightseeing for dinner and night stay.

Day 03: Kolkata – Bhubaneshwar

Post breakfast on the third day leave for Kolkata airport to board a flight for Bhubaneshwar. On arrival check in a hotel and relax. In the afternoon set out for a city tour of Bhubaneshwar which is often referred as the City of Temples. The tour begins by visiting the Lingaraj temple which is considered as the most eye catching temple of the city. Being the oldest it forms the earliest example of the intricacies of Orissa architecture. Apart from this, visit Bindu Sarovar another holy location and Kedareshwar Temple, dedicated to Goddess Durga. In the evening, the travelers can set out to visit the local markets to acquire some local handicrafts or other goods and return to the hotel for night stay.

Day 04: Bhubaneshwar –Sambalpur

After breakfast, set out for Sambalpur based at a distance of 276km and takes around 6hours to reach the destination. While driving for Sambalpur take a halt at Nuapatna which is quite famous for being the abode for handloom weavers. It is a small village and most of the villagers here are engaged in this profession. Travelers can enjoy speaking to these weavers and know more on weaving techniques and tips. After the visit, continue further for Sambalpur. On arrival at the city, check in a hotel to unwind and relax. Sambalpur is often considered as the textile hub of the state with excellent designer works on special sarees called Ikkat or sambalpuri sarees , an exclusive item of this region. Explore the intricate handworks in these sarees and other clothing’s. One can visit Gole Bazaar to catch some excellent works. Apart from this Hirakund Dam, Ushakothi Wildlife sanctuary, and Huma Temple are some of the other prominent attractions which can be visited in the evening. Return back after sightseeing and enjoy dinner and night stay at the hotel

Day 05: Sambalpur- Boudh

After breakfast, set out for visiting some of the renowned Sambalpur textiles and handlooms, to get a direct visual and knowledge about textile weaving and the hard work put by the weavers towards each creation. Explore the various integrated Ikat designs being crafted with various colorful threads and making a specialty item that is popular throughout the country. After the tour at the textiles, hit the roads to travel to Boudh at a distance of 100kms. Boudh is quite famous for the exclusive Bomkai sarees and other silk and cotton sarees. Visit the local markets and explore the various items available in regards to artistry and excellent textile. For many travelers it is an excellent chance to collect some authentic products at much cheap prices. Return back to hotel for night stay.

Day 06: Boudh-Bissam Cuttack

Post breakfast leave for Bissam Cuttack based around 260kms away. On the way take a halt to have a glimpse of the Kutia Kondh villages and get to know the tribal life based here. Even a visit to the Phulbani area a little further makes it all the more significant. After reaching Bissam Cuttack, check in a hotel for night stay.

Day 07: Bissam Cuttack-Jeypore

The seventh day of the tour is scheduled for a Bissam Cuttack tour in the morning. So set out for Dongeria Kondh villages early. Enjoy the tribal life and the artistry done here. From here trek down the tribal hills to popular tribal market named as Chatikona. Here walk down the streets to explore the local shops and enjoy breakfast here. From here set out for a drive to Jeypore. Reaching midway to Koraput, take a halt to enjoy delicious lunch and some local dishes. After reaching Jeypore, check in the hotel and relax for the rest of the evening.  The nearest market area can also be an excellent option to spend the evening. Return hotel and stay overnight.

Day 08: Jeypore

After breakfast, set out to visit the tribal population based here. Enjoy the lifestyle and the culture present here. Meet the people and enjoy the performance organized by the Parajas tribe. Apart from that visit other attractions in Jeypore which includes Kali Temple, Neelkaantheshwara Temple, Jeypore Fort, Kolab Dam and The beautiful Machkund Dam. Jeypore is a place with extraordinary natural extravaganza so explore the same and return back to hotel in the evening for night stay.

Day 09: Jeypore- Malkangiri

Post breakfast set out for Malkangiri. On the way take a halt and enjoy the weekly market at Mathili. After exploring the market start the journey again. It’s a 110 kms drive which can be reached by two hours time. After reaching Malkangiri, check in a hotel and relax. Have lunch at the hotel and set out to visit Iralgungi which is a Koya village. Enjoy another prominent performance by the tribals in the evening and return hotel for overnight stay.

Day 10: Malkangiri-Madulipada-Rayagada

Post breakfast leave for Madulipada where one can enjoy a fascinating tour around the Bonda villages learning about their lifestyle and handicraft works. Have lunch at Khairput and drive straight to Rayagada. Check in a hotel for night stay.

Day 11: Rayagada –Taptapani

Post breakfast hit the road to travel to Taptapani. The distance is around 156kms and takes 3 hours to reach.  On the way take a halt at Langia Saura Village where one can enjoy the amazing war performance done by the tribals based here. Learn about the life of the artists based here and about their mode of work. After the visit, set out again for Taptapani. On arrival check in a hotel for night stay.

Day 12: Taptapani –Bhubaneshwar

Begin the day with a delightful breakfast and set out to enjoy the charm of Chilka Lake. The beautiful scenery is extremely admirable and breathtakingly beautiful. On an island in the lake there is a pious shrine, the Kalijai temple which is visited by many locals and travelers. Take a boat ride to the temple and enjoy the view. Have delicious lip smacking Orissa cuisine at Barkul and leave for Bhubaneshwar. On arrival at Bhubaneshwar, check in a hotel and take the rest of the day off for leisure. Rest and sleep tight at the hotel

Day 13: Bhubaneshwar – Kolkata

Have breakfast in the morning and set out to enjoy the left over attractions in Bhubaneshwar. Enjoy Iskon temple, Khandagiri and Udaygiri hills, Brahmeshwara Temple, tribal museum and other prominent places. Take lunch in the afternoon and board a flight to Kolkata. On arrival at Kolkata airport, drive to the said hotel and check in for the night.

Day 14: Kolkata- Departure

The last day of the tour begins by having breakfast. After breakfast set out to visit Lokenath Mandir and finish off the last minute shopping. In the afternoon have lunch and set out for airport to board a flight to homeland. That’s the end of a splendid tour.
