Surrounded by the hills of Maharashtra, the significant city of Aurangabad boasts of a rich history and natural beauty. Several manmade wonders of this city illustrate the prosperous past of the city, whether it is intricately carved Ajanta and Ellora caves or spending Mughal architectures. Founded in 1610 by Malik Akbar, the city is set up on the site of a Khadki village. The village which grew into a magnificent city was renamed as Fatehnagar by Fateh Khan. In 1653, Aurangzeb made the city his capital and renamed it as Aurangabad.

Ajanta and Ellora caves are the main attraction for tourists from all over the world. Ajanta caves were declared as the world heritage site by UNESCO. It has beautiful paintings depicting the life events of Buddha. Ellora caves are great example of religious acceptance in India, depicting paintings of Buddhism, Hinduism and Jainism. The Ellora caves date back to 600 A.D. to 1000 A.D. Devgiri Fort is another tourist attraction if Aurangabad. This unconquered invincible fort was constructed by Billamraja. Other tourist attractions of the city are Bani Begam Bagh, Khuldabad, Pitalkhora Caves and Ghrishneshwar Temple.

Getting to the city is also pretty easy. It is well connected with highways and rail routes. Tourists can also take budget flights to reach the city. Due to its central location, it is easy to reach this city from important cities like Hyderabad, Mumbai and Bangalore.
